About Us
In 1980 Mike Mortimer first organized and showed the Best of the Banff Mountain Film Festival at the University of Calgary, Science Theatres. Then the format used 16mm films. Today the technology has been transferred to DVD’s . The venue has also changed, first to the University Theatre and now to the current location of the Eckhardt-Gramatte theatre at the Rozsa Centre at the University of Calgary. This theatre represents the best in modern seating and acoustics.
These shows are presented by Mountain Film Inc.
Mike Mortimer has been involved with the outdoor community since 1977 when he first moved to Calgary. During this time he has served the outdoor community in the following capacities:

In 2005 Mike Mortimer was made an honorary member of the Alpine Club of Canada.
For 27 years, Mike was a master of ceremonies at the Banff Festival of Mountain Films years.
